Unqualified Good News

Hey everyone, I have unqualified good news!

We're in Houston and Mom had a scan yesterday- the first since she started the current study.

Linda and her mama

The prelim results are wonderful! Near or full tumor reduction after just two rounds, despite the complications in April when she was off of the trial for several weeks.
Because the tumors are all enlarged lymph nodes it's tricky to determine if she has had a full or partial response: there is a size range for healthy lymph nodes, so it's hard to say when they are "normal" again.

They'll do some math and decide what percentage of reduction she's had, but it'll be somewhere between 80% and 100%, so she's definitely having an excellent response.

Her bloodwork was good too, so she got permission to have her picc line removed. (a picc line is a port that streamlines giving blood samples and getting iv medications, so that she isn't being poked all of the time. A semi-permanent hole in your body is an infection risk, so if you're not really using it, it's better to take it out. She's doing great and is unlikely to need more of the electrolyte infusions that were the reason she needed the port.)

She's sleeping through her infusion now, we'll be coming home tomorrow, and we shouldn't have to be in Texas until next month!

xoxo
