Transplant Time
Hey everybody!
I'm in the hospital with Mom – who's doing wonderfully – and Marcy, who is alternating between being helpful and kind and loving, and winding Linda up as only the oldest friends can. They seriously are about 13 years old in here, there's been a lot of giggling and name-calling.
Linda is actually done with the heavy-chemo part of the transplant! There will be a few more doses over the next few weeks, but not ones that should be too destructive. She started her anti-rejection drugs yesterday, and luckily the dose seems to be right and she hasn't had side effects so far.
Today she is (ostensibly) resting, and tomorrow she will receive Amy's cells.
I say she's ostensibly resting because this woman has walked 15 miles of laps around the floor so far. Literally 15 miles, they have a program of rewards - a sticker for your door for every lap, and a bandana for every 3 miles. She has become a bandana-hoarding dragon.
She's made friends on the floor and has been playing the guitar, watching/mocking classic movies, eating well, and staying too busy to do the puzzles we brought.
She doesn't feel perfect- she is enduring a pretty unpleasant ordeal. But I'd say that so far this is the mildest hospital stay she's had!
Wish her a happy birthday tomorrow - we love you all!
