Start of the Journey

Journal Entry by Rebekah — May 22, 2013

Today is a little better than yesterday.  Mom's medication was amped up yesterday (necessitating an unpleasant return to the hospital :-/ ), so today the pain is under control, though not gone.  Still, it helped enough that we can spend today eating soup and painting toenails and building strength. Hopefully later we might even get an episode of Gilmore Girls in!

Today and last night I was still in a lot of pain.  Dan took me back to the Clinic to see the doctor.  Dan's sister Judy came with us to be our support.  The doctor determined that the extreme pain was coming from the fact that the swollen lymph nodes on my spine are pressing on nerve endings.  They changed my pain medication and now I am back at Marcy's resting and watching Call the Midwife.

Thank you for all the support that everyone has shown me.  Please keep me in your prayers.

Yesterday I had a lymph node taken out to have it biopsied. I had this done at the Cleveland Clinic. They took out a lymph node on my right side. It will be about a week before we know what the results are. I came out of the surgery with a lot of pain. Dan and I stopped at Marcy Thompson-Rupert's house to spend the night because the drive back to Union City was too much.
