Good news from our first visit with the oncologist
We had the first meeting with our oncologist today and we are feeling great :-) We love the doctor, and she corrected us about the scary stuff that we (and maybe you) read online yesterday - Mom's cancer is curable. Treatment will be chemo, probably not any radiation, starting soon. Next week we have a few more tests to determine the stage before treatment; but with lymphoma the stage matters much less than with most other cancers. Even stage four is curable! (Slightly more detail: so lymphoma can be either non-painful but non-curable, or painful and life disrupting but beatable, and Linda is dealing with the latter. It's very responsive to treatment, which is why the stage matters less- even if it's in several locations it can still be eradicated.) Colt and Dan and I came with mom to the appointment this morning, and we scheduled a bone marrow biopsy and a heart echo for next week, and a follow up with the oncologist. It takes a few days to schedule a pet scan, but that will also be next week, and with those three pieces of information we should be ready for chemo. We had a yummy lunch at a restaurant here and we're about to get the car and come home to union city.
We love you all. Bekah
