Technology Overload?
Five years ago during Covid I was working in Aspen, Colorado for a private family as a Spanish speaking nanny. Every day I played outside with the children and pushed them up and down the mountain side to and from the park. In the afternoons during my free time I hiked the mountain trails. Many days I was flooded with gratitude for the beauty of the landscape and rivers that tumbled down the mountainsides. My muscles would ache and I would collapse into bed at night so happily exhausted. In many ways my experiences there are the place I go in my mind when I need to escape the monotony of life and what I am feeling right now... technology overload.
Lately, I have noticed that there has been an onslaught of AI driven junk email, phone messages, endless social media blah blah blah, and I am calling a personal time out on all of it.
It seems to me that what the world needs to do for a while is “Step away from the technology”. Now I realize that I am writing this on my computer, however I am also self-reflecting and tuning into what I really need. This, at the end of the day (a busy day teaching 5 classes of technology distracted children) is what is indeed most important to each and every one of us… self-awareness.
Today take a minute or 10 or 60 to notice how you are feeling, journal, breathe deeply and self-reflect. Breathe in gratitude, breathe out anxious thoughts. Go outside and look-up. You are a human being — so take some time to just BE.
Lots of love, Linda
