Clean Bill of Health
Dear Friends and Family,
As of May 17, 2019, I was given a clean bill of health from MD Anderson and am planning to re-enter the classroom at Iroquois High School for the next school year 2019/2020. The position to teach Spanish and French re-opened and I feel ready to dive back into my career. I'm very thankful for this opportunity at a time that I most need to focus on my future and live my life to the fullest. In order to prepare for the French portion of the teaching job, I spent 3 months in France this year (Jan 9- April 17) immersing myself in the culture and language (and food!!). Through the experience of immersion, I have come to believe that learning a language is a perfect way to stay in the "present". It's difficult to worry about the future or the past when you are trying to decide which vocabulary and verb tense to use.
You will notice that my name has changed back to Smith. Dan and I went through a divorce this year and I don't feel ready to talk about that, but I am at least letting you know that I am okay. Dan is working on his own journey that required him to travel alone. Please know that even though what I am telling you today is the saddest sort of story to tell...I know that God is in it. The last couple years have been a lot of everything, vibrant and full living, desperately sad and devastating, highest highs and lowest lows.
Our lives seldom, if ever, go the ways that we imagined they would go. I still believe that our daily journey is a celebration of the precious gift of life, no matter what we face. All things truly are possible because we are alive. I started a website a couple of years ago called LindaWingerter.live. Now my name has changed, and my life has been changing rather dramatically over the last 2 years. I am re-assessing, re-calibrating, re-starting, re-generating, and re-creating my life. So the website name will change to reflect my re-set. Haven't decided on that yet, but I will let you know. The general sense I have about the next year is: Teaching full-time is going to take the majority of my energy, however music, writing, food, and art are such a big part of who I am.
I will be updating you via this website! My hope is to streamline the process of connection with those who are interested in my blog/music/food/writing developments.
